Policy Development

Policy Development

SAFF policy is created by the various SAFF committees. Committee members are regionally elected from SAFF membership. SAFF develops policies both reactively and pro-actively and makes various submissions in relation to State and Federal Government inquiries, discussion papers and other proposals. There are several criteria deemed essential for developing SAFF policy. These are:

  • Policy should be effective and should address the principles underlying an issue
  • Policy principles should be consistent
  • Policy should be socially, environmentally and politically responsible
  • Policies must take into account the whole-of-industry perspective
  • Policies should seek a balance between the interests of members and the interests of the wider community
